Our Story

In 2017 I became the coordinator of the IQHA Charity Trail Ride which meant that my whole family was drawn into helping me put on the event.  This also lead to my husband, Jon and I attending the NSBA’s Coaches Summit in 2018.  During the summit we had the opportunity to meet individuals that ran equine therapeutic  riding centers as well as trainers who had clients with disabilities who utilized the centers and showed in the ring.   Along with many great stories of determination and success, we also learned of the often financial uncertainty these centers faced.  Grants that were available often had limits to what funding could be spent on and often would not support the very thing the client needed the most, the horse.  During the drive home the concept for Ride for Therapy was born.  Ride for Therapy was created as a way to raise awareness about the benefits of equine connections and to raise funds to be granted to centers that would allow them to meet the needs of their facilities, staff, volunteers, and clients.   In 2020 Ride for Therapy was granted 501(c)3 status making what was once just a concept a reality.
